We are delighted to announce the details of the DELF Annual Conference taking place on Friday 18 September 2026 at Savoy Place, London WC2R 0BL.
The keynote speaker is Vânia Costa Ramos, of Carlos Pinto de Abreu e Associados, Lisbon and Chair of the European Criminal Bar Association, and an expert international panel will examine:
- In Absentia Convictions after the Crime and Policing Act 2026: What the reforms change, where they fall short, and how the next generation of fair-trial challenges is likely to unfold;
- Parallel Human Rights Litigation: International Remedies as Tools in Extradition Cases: How UN and regional mechanisms can generate evidence, secure protection and produce authoritative findings that strengthen extradition litigation at home;
- Fact-Finding in Extradition Proceedings: Investigating Allegations of Torture and State Involvement: Practical methods for investigating torture, ill-treatment and state complicity in real time, while protecting witnesses and turning findings into admissible evidence; and
- Compromising Warrants Abroad: Defence Strategy in Practice: How extradition cases can be resolved beyond the contested hearing through negotiation, foreign proceedings, sentence transfer and withdrawal of alerts.
Tickets cost £160 for DELF members if paid for before 16 August and £165 thereafter. Non-member tickets cost £185. There will be a limited number of tickets available for the drinks reception – £45 for members and £60 for non-members
